Athenian Dialogue:


Mary Lynn Stratta, City Secretary of the City of Bryan, Texas will be leading the Athenian Dialogue for the book: The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown.


A story about nine Americans and their quest for gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.  In their epic quest for Olympic Gold, this team transformed the sport and grabbed the attention of millions of Americans.  The sons of loggers, shipyard workers, and farmers, the boys defeated elite rivals first from eastern and British universities and finally the German crew rowing for Adolf Hitler in 1936 Berlin Olympic Games. (The paperback version is approximately 370 pages)


The Athenian Dialogue has been approved for three CMC or three MMC education points by IIMC upon completion of an assessment.  The book must be purchased by the attendee and read before the session begins. There are only 35 spots available on a first come-first served basis.

Academy Session:


Jan Dwyer-Bang, Boundless Reults will be presenting an all-day Academy Session on “The Art of Giving and Receiving Feedback.” The Academy Session has been approved for three CMC or three MMC education points by IIMC through the Northwest Clerks Institute upon completion of KTAP.  


The Art of Giving and Receiving Feedback

This session will provide clerks with strategies and tools to effectively give and receive feedback in respectful, productive way.  The ability to both give and to receive feedback is a critical skill, whether providing feedback one on one, in a leadership context, in a city council meeting or in a coaching session.

WMCA members AFTER registration deadline of 09/14/2018          $175.00


Academy Session:

WMCA members on or before registration deadline **                  $150.00

Non-members on or before registration deadline                          $175.00

Non-members AFTER registration deadline of 09/14/2018             $200.00


Athenian Dialogue AND Academy Session:

WMCA members on or before registration deadline **                  $250.00

WMCA members AFTER registration deadline of 09/14/2018          $275.00


*    Registration fees must be received no later than registration deadline or the $25 additional late charge will be assessed.

**  Alaska, Oregon, California, and Idaho clerks who are members of their State Associations may attend the Academy Session and pay the WMCA Member rate.

There are NO refunds after September 14, 2018.



Hotel

The hotel room rate is $93/night (single) or $113/night (double) plus tax and fees. The block of rooms is now open. To make a reservation:

The room block is secured until September 10, 2018. Please note the government per diem only applies to Wednesday and Thursday nights. Regular hotel rates will apply to all other nights.

Scholarships for both the Academy and Athenian Dialogue are available!  Go to www.wmcaclerks.org/scholarships for more information.


Don’t forget!  If you are a member of WCIA they will reimburse your City one registration for the Academy session.  CIAW and AWC RMSA also offer scholarships!

 



Attendance

Attendance at the Academy and/or Athenian Dialogue is open to all WMCA members. You do not need to have your CMC or MMC to attend!
